Dr Ruffina David
We are thrilled to announce a new addition to the PHP team. Dr Ruffina David, a registered psychologist and licensed professional counsellor, will be starting with us on Thursday 14 November, and practising each Thursday between 12 and 7pm.
Ruffina brings with her almost twenty years’ experience; after beginning her training and career in India, Ruffina has spent more than a decade working in Australia, with her most recent work being in Western Australia and Northern Territory.
Ruffina is passionate about using culturally-appropriate evidence-based assessment along with therapeutic skills to support her clients. She practises in an authentic and respectful manner, recognising the uniqueness of each individual client and their experience/situation.
Ruffina specialises in PTSD, trauma and attachment disorder, anxiety, depression, couples therapy, and transcultural psychology. She uses a range of treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, to help both adults and adolescents achieve positive outcomes.
We are very happy to have Dr Ruffina David join our team, providing a further specialised service to support our PHP community.
Cost of Appointments
The costs of standard appointments with a psychologist are:
The fee is payable in full on the day of each appointment, unless you have been granted funding by an external body (e.g. TAC, WorkSafe, ComCare, VOCAT).
*Ruffina will use the last 10 minutes of your appointment to write up notes, contact your GP, and score assessments (as necessary).
If you have a Medicare card, and you obtain a GP referral (that meets Medicare's referral requirements), you can receive Medicare rebates for up to 10 appointments per calendar year -Medicare rebates are for $86.15.
Private Health Rebates
ome private health insurance policies include psychological/ counselling services. The rebate amount varies between companies and policies. You should check your policy inclusions with your health insurance provider, and determine whether they will provide rebates for the services offered.
NDIS, TAC, WorkSafe, ComCare & VOCAT
In the event you have been granted funding by an external body, we may discuss invoicing them directly for your treatment (please note, this does not apply if you are claiming through Medicare). Even when an external funding body has agreed to provide funding, gap fees may apply for your appointments.
Psychological Assessments/ Reports
We charge the fees recommended by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) for the writing of psychological reports (this includes those required for legal matters). These fees are $246 per hour, plus GST.
If, for some reason you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide more than 48 hours notice. Fees apply for cancellations made within the 48 hours prior to a counselling appointment (see below for details).
0 – 24 hours notice: Full fee charged
24 hours – 48 hours notice: 50% of fee charged
More than 48 hours notice: No fee charged
